MoralNest is built to need very little information about your family. This page describes what the service handles and why.

Who MoralNest is for

Accounts are for adults: parents and guardians. Children use MoralNest through reader profiles that an adult sets up and controls.

Information the service handles

Your account

• Your email address and a protected (hashed) form of your password, or the identifier from the sign-in provider you choose.
• Your signed-in devices (a device label and platform), so you can stay signed in and sign out remotely.
• Your settings, such as language, appearance and notification choices.

Reader profiles

• A nickname, an age band, a content mode and a language for each reader.
• We do not ask for a child's full name, date of birth, school, address, phone number or photograph.

Your library and reading

• Stories you favourite, save or create, and how far you have read or listened, so you can continue on another device.

Story creation

• The choices you make in the creator and any short idea you type, the story that results, and a record of safety checks.
• If a request or a story is stopped by a safety check, the stopped text is not kept; only the fact and category of the check are recorded.

Purchases

• If you subscribe, the app store handles your payment. MoralNest receives confirmation of the purchase and its status, not your card details.

Usage information

• Counts of events such as a story being started or finished, linked to an app-install identifier rather than to a child's profile, used to understand what is working.
• Technical logs needed to run and secure the service. Logs are designed to exclude passwords, sign-in tokens, payment details and story requests.

How information is used

• To provide the app: showing suitable stories, creating stories you ask for, narration, and keeping your library in step across devices.
• To keep the service safe, prevent abuse and review reports.
• To understand usage in aggregate and improve MoralNest.

MoralNest does not sell personal information and does not show third-party advertising.

Service providers

Creating a story and producing narration involve sending the story request or story text to an AI or text-to-speech provider acting on our behalf. Hosting and app-store providers are also involved in running the service. The providers used will be listed here before MoralNest is released.

Your choices

• You can edit or delete reader profiles, and remove stories from your library, in the app.
• You can delete your account in the app. Deleting it signs you out everywhere and removes your profiles, library and created stories.
• Depending on where you live, you may have further rights over your information, such as access or correction.

Still to be finalised

The following will be completed, with legal review, before this page takes effect: the legal entity responsible for MoralNest and its contact details, how long each kind of record is kept, the list of providers and where information is processed, and region-specific rights.
